About

Life’s a painting and you’re the artist. But you are never finished. Each day is made up of a dozen different sketches, alone they will never be more than that, a sketch, yet they make up the context of our lives.

This is my sketch, one done with love.

There is something magical about how simple making a fort is. You can be creative and work together to make family ties stronger. It’s more than just a hobby. Let me tell you, every stitch, every cushion, and every blanket on this trip brought my family closer together.

It might be able to do the same for yours.

Forts inside are great; they can turn our living room into our own world where we can forget about the real world. We gathered things like happy squirrels gathering acorns: blankets were thrown over furniture, and pillows were stacked high to look like huge forts. The air was buzzing with energy, and our house was full of new ideas. As we worked together, I couldn’t help but think about how these events connected our shared experience.

As we got higher, laughter could be heard all around us. “Be cautious!” When someone said, “That one’s too wobbly,” someone else would always jump in to steady it. These small conversations taught me how important it is to work together, even when doing something as simple as making walls. We weren’t aware that we were improving our ability to talk to each other and solve problems while we were making a safe place to stay.

When we finally found our cozy new hiding spot, each of us found our own space, we rested with drinks and snacks hidden behind the fabric walls. Is there anything more relaxing than curling up in your own fort? Life seems different inside those four shaky walls, where people tell stories and watch a lot of movies.

Reading literature inside our fortress turned into a magical journey. Words jumped off the pages as if they were excited about our trip. We could really get into each story when all technology was turned off, even our phones. This is an art that has been lost in today’s busy world where computers are everywhere.

Then the wonderful moment happened: it got dark outside, and shadows came in through our makeshift windows. Twinkle lights softly lit the sky above. The flickering light changed our fort into a safe place where people could share dreams and worries and really connect with each other.

You’re not just putting pillows together when you make a fort. You’re making memories that will last a lifetime and turn ordinary things into extraordinary ones. Think about what it might be like for your family to get together and laugh, make something new, and build not only houses but also relationships in a happy chaos.

Then get your blankets and pillows ready! Find out about this simple but very rewarding sport that people of all ages can enjoy together.

Have fun making your own indoor fort together, and may you enjoy each other’s company just as much!
